The Lead Pastor of Spirit & Truth Worship Center is Jeremy D Cornett. Pastor Jeremy grew up in the church and served in various capacities over the years, from teaching Sunday School and working with teens, to cutting the grass of the church campus. In 1993 his parents would start a new church in Claymont Delaware. While there as a teenager, Jeremy would gain valuable experience in ministry while assisting his ill father. In 1995 Jeremy would suffer the loss of his father and mentor. Although a difficult situation the time spent in Claymont served as a training ground preparing him to answer the call of God on his life. Seeking to develop his ministry under God’s direction, Jeremy began a mentoring relationship with Pastor Steven J Beardsley of Newark UPC. In 2003 Jeremy continued his training and preparation under Bishop James Beardsley and served as his Assistant Pastor in a new daughter church in Pilesgrove NJ (Apostolic Lighthouse). Over the course of 3 years many blessing were enjoyed and lives touched by the gospel. In 2004 Jeremy married his long time love Christina Patton. In 2006 the Cornett’s feeling the leading of the Spirit resigned from Apostolic Lighthouse and went to serve as support staff at Newark UPC under the direction of Pastor Steven J Beardsley. Over the next year the Cornett family would receive instruction and direction for their ministry. In April of 2007 Jeremy was unanimously voted in as Lead Pastor of Spirit & Truth Worship Center. If you can’t find Jeremy at the church campus, he’ll be enjoying time with his wife and pug Mia, reading a good book somewhere quiet, or at someone’s home teaching a Bible Enrichment class. Christina currently serves as the Music Director at Spirit and Truth. She started playing the piano and singing in church as a child. She considers herself blessed to be able to use something she loves to glorify God. The music department at Spirit and Truth has one main goal: That the heart of the congregation would be opened through praise and worship to be able to receive the Word of God. She has also served in other areas of ministry such as teaching Sunday School and assisting her husband with youth ministry. Christina works as a registered nurse at a local hospital. In her spare time she enjoys playing the piano, listening to music, and reading. |
Michael serves Spirit & Truth as assistant to the pastor, as well as point person for their outreach efforts in Ventnor, NJ. He has served the Lord for over 28yrs. Aside from being a gifted teacher, Michael is a dedicated husband, loving father and all around good guy. In his spare time he enjoys traveling the globe and visiting foreign lands. |
